OUR BRIDE….Jessica x

There is nothing we love more than receiving photos from our brides of their special day. From the day they first walk through our door to the day they leave with their gown we go through the wedding planning journey with them experiencing highs and lows and sharing the giggles and much needed cuppas. We forge friendships and we genuinely miss them when they are gone.

What better way to share the results of their planning than with a special feature for these gorgeous girls who have now become part of the Leonie Claire family. So without further ado I am delighted to present our very first post about one of our brides, the lovely Jessica Morrod.

Carl proposed to Jessica on Christmas day 2011 in front of the whole family. The couple were hosting and in a very relaxed way Carl popped down onto one knee and presented a glass of prosecco with a temporary ring asking “will you marry me?”. The answer was of course, yes….

Jessica’s sister was pregnant at the time but she really wanted her to be involved in the dress shopping so she waited until February 2012 before the search began. She chose Leonie Claire  as part of her 2 dress shop adventure. We were blown away to hear that she had lost 6 stone in 3 years! What an amazing achievement! She didn’t have any strong ideas about the style of gown she would like but thought a sweetheart neckline might feature and a fuller skirt to accentuate her trim new waist. Jessica visited one boutique prior to coming to Leonie Claire so she had a good idea that she was looking for something quite fairytale. She had toyed with a short gown but felt it was her one chance to be a princess for the day.

At her first appointment we helped Jessica to choose 6 gowns to try. This is the perfect number of gowns so that you remember each one. Jessica chose a corsetted Allure gown with stunning silver embellishment trickling down the bodice and into the full tulle skirt. As she was being laced into the gown the butterflies came and she came out of the fitting room to a silence that spoke volumes. No words were needed. This was Jessica’s gown. Not every bride feels this rush of certainty but for Jessica it was so strong and so quick there was no other gown in the world that would match this one.

Jessica chose to have her fittings with us despite the fact that she lived 3 hours away. Jessica felt that experience was as important as the dress and when I asked her why she was so adamant that she would make this journey for her fittings she said:

“I chose that option because I knew the dress would be looked after and altered perfectly for me. I also knew that my experience would be something to look forward to every time I visited. I always felt, coming to the boutique was a bit like being transported to a little bridal haven that you dream of when you are a little girl – where every bride is the most special person in the world for those moments, the things that dreams and fairytales are made of”.

Jessica also chose a beautiful Flo & Percy tiara, which matched the detail on the gown perfectly!

The theme for Jessica and Carl’s wedding was vintage rock as chosen by Carl. This phrase inspired an 8 piece rock and roll band and palette of vibrant jewel colours for the flowers and venue. The couple didn’t want a theme as much as an experience and it was all about being casual, fun and colourful. Jessica made much of the decoration herself and even baked the 8 wedding cakes with her mum and sister! She even made 100 origami flowers for the tables too!

Her wedding date was set for 7th September in a beautiful 16th century coaching inn, The Haycock Hotel near Peterborough.  The gardens are just stunning and Chamonix, the photographer, made great use of the grounds to capture the fun spirit of the couple.

When I asked Jessica what the best part of her day was she said:

“The best thing about the day was that both Carl and I were able to really enjoy every moment. I had designed it so that we wouldn’t get that “its gone by so fast and we missed it” feeling. The absolute best thing was when it was finished and Carl and I went upstairs, he said to me that he was overwhelmed by what I had put together for us, that he had now witnessed what I am capable of and how I can create a vision from nothing and make it a reality that was perfect for both of us…. I had inspired him to believe in something he didn’t know was possible”.

So thank you Jessica for coming to Leonie Claire despite the huge distance. You looked so very beautiful on your wedding day and you were always a joy to see at your visits to the boutique. Your day looked so very wonderful. Thank you for sharing. We would like to wish you every happiness in married life. So much love, The Leonie Claire team.

We would just like to finish this post with some wise words from the bride herself. When I asked her what her top tip for brides to be was she said:

“The wedding day is only one part of the experience, take time to enjoy every aspect of planning, creating and being part of your special day. Memories are precious too, get some great photos taken! You will remember more than just the day, whether it is in six, months, a year or longer take time to make it a pleasure and your day will be the icing on a very beautiful and delicious cake. Dreams are powerful and you can make yours come true”.

Wise words from a very special lady.
